Finally some good moderation (mightily appreciated) on what was rapidly turning into Volkischer Beobachter, and look what libs have to say when suddenly discovered they can’t just spew every vile shit imaginable.
Of course it’s r/enoughtankiespam verbatim complete with “why there is so many nazis in our antiauthoritarian space”.
It genuinely feels like as soon as Hexbear started federating with others, the anti-coms of .world, .dbzero, and .works perceived themselves in a Soulsborne-style boss fight against just us, and then a second full health bar joins the fray. [le gasp] Now, it’s constant malding over hexbear, and that’s the funniest fuckin thing.
Right? Like we were the boogeyman for a couple months after the influx and little did they know there was a much bigger threat lurking in the background
It really is incredibly hilarious. I have no idea why they focus so hard on hexbear and mostly ignore us. Maybe name similarities between lemmy.ml and lemmygrad.ml, I dunno. Maybe they don’t get that grad is a not subtle reference to Leningrad or Stalingrad, again, I don’t know.
I’ve got a hexbear account cooking though. I should post more from it just to get triggered™️ lib responses. This account doesn’t farm them enough.
I think it’s because most instances had defederated from us already and hexbear are very active posters, definitely much more active than we are. Other instances got blindsided when hexbear joined in, they thought we were the only “weirdo tankies” contained in our own instance lol
This is getting our of hand, now there are two of them.wav
I for one welcome our hexagonal ursine comrades.
Likewise; they rather add something to the space. A certain, pardon my French, but je ne sais quois.
Was it always like this on the fediverse? I can’t separate these kinds of posts from the flood of threads about hexbear since I wasn’t here till we federated and I know there’s a fair amount of overlap.
No, before the reddit invasion lemmygrad had majority of the activity, Yogthos singlehandedly provided half content on lemmy.ml and libs were contained in their own circlejerks like mander or sopuli and dunked on whenever they said some shit in public. There was like 5-6 trolls either creating string of alts or riding the border line of moderation.
But then the invasion happened and hitler particle emissions from newcomers have been steadily rising since then. Hate against lemmygrad and hexbear is mostly effect of average stormfrontmann cannot imagine social media which won’t ban communists on a whim.
Ahh right, I forgot about the reddit exodus aspect. I’d already abandoned it and been on hexbear since the start, looks like we federated just in time to help combat this bullshit.
👍 Greatly appreciated
Honestly there was still a ton of complaining about lemmygrad even before hexbear federated, which in a way was even funnier because our instance is so tiny compared to most of the lib instances after the flood of and yet they acted like we were this huge boogeyman, but to see them completely lose their minds after having to deal with a big socialist instance actually close to their size (and maybe even more active) has been so great lol
Yeah those first few days were a gold mine of amazing takes and pissing and shitting about the mean ol’ tankies.
Which is especially funny when the word gets leveled at me lol. I love my ML comrades though.
You had the occasional gigalib or two shitting up discussions in news and politics related comms, but otherwise it was nothing like this before the API exodus.
.ml
.world too.
Liberals yet didn’t understand that the “ml” in “lemmy.ml” stands for “marxist-leninist” /s
That is not true, it is just a free domain.
That sounds pretty communist to me.
It’s a joke…
You need a tone indicator with that one, a ton of the contingent unironically believe that lol
I choose to believe the real truth.
That Mali was always destined to be the most based country on earth, so they got the most based TLD.
Just because it didn’t mean that originally doesn’t mean we can’t make it mean that today
I wasn’t in the room when the die was cast, but dem dirty tankies could have chosen any one of the hundreds of top-level domains, and they chose
.ml
.
lol those screenshots which are supposed to be an example of how authoritarian that mod is, and under every ban/comment removal there’s like “Reason: Rule 1,” “Reason: no sources,” or “Reason: spam.”
why are these authoritarian tankies banning people for breaking rules and posting claims with no evidence!? the horror
I’m almost surprised that the author had the minimum amount of honesty to include those screenshots, because all that they really do is make the moderator look good whereas ‘antitankies’ contribute nothing but contentless crap to innocent people’s threads.
If we wanted to see the same anticommunist factoids regurgitated over and over again, we could easily go to ABC, BBC, Breitbart, CNN, the Daily Mail, Fox News, the Guardian, the Independent, MSNBC, NBC, NYPost, the New York Times, Reddit, Sky News, the Sun, Twitter, the Washington Post, Wikipedia, and so on and so forth. Seriously, we’ve already heard ‘HAY u guys Kim Jong Xinnie the Un is literally genociding 20 million uyghurs rn!!!’ umpteen thousand times. We got it!
