I was looking for information on the Provisional IRA on wikipedia and I saw that Wikipedia added a note saying that the information on the page was provided by the CIA.

Thanks, Wikipedia, for warning me to ignore it.

I heard someone comparing the western media’s downplay of the gaza famine (genocide) with the “ccp” downplaying the “man-made famines” under mao and I had to scream into a pillow. So much for touching grass.

Clearly pissrael’s genocide is raising life expectancy and building up Gaza’s productive forces!

Had a tour of the arts in the city last saturday when many museums opened their doors at night as a special event. A lot of paintings were about the golden age of Antwerp around the 1500-1600 period in which it was one of, if not the most important city in the world. It was the largest European city after Paris at the time.

You’d think: ‘wow that’s cool’ until you realise many of these things were achieved because of colonialism and slave trade. As is always the case in Europe.

My (near) burnout phase seems to continue. I hoped after the weekend was done and after spending a week at home it would be better but I can’t shake the anxious feeling I have, which sucks. There’s also this feeling of guilt that comes with it, for me at least, because I keep thinking about how so many people in this world have it worse than I do and they keep on going, so why can’t I? But that’s not a good mentality to have, of course.

You may be experiencing second hand trauma. I think it happens to a lot of us who are paying attention to the horrors of genocide, imperialism, environmental collapse and all the rest. It can lead to burnout and all sorts of depression/anxiety like symptoms and feeling like you don’t even deserve to feel badly. I don’t know though, just something I’m looking into regarding my own stuff which really rhymes with what you’re describing.

With some of the extreme summers we have had last years you almost forget what the weather is supposed to be over here: clouds, some sun, 22 degrees Celsius, rain. It’s how this specific corner of the earth became a very habitable one in the first place. But since it’s not 28-30+ degrees and blaring sun, people are now saying we have a shit summer. I’m glad the weather is ‘normal’ for a few weeks now.

Same thing in southern Europe. This summer has basically been in reverse, we touched 40c in June and we are now comfortably in the 25-30c range. IDK about you or other people but I would give my first born son to have all summers be like august has been so far.

Also 30/40 years ago, before climate change became so extreme, all summers used to be like this. I vividly remember when we reached 40c for the first time and I was shocked, it’s normal now.

It’s nice to not melt away in my own home every day. I’ll never forget our first 40+ degree day some years ago while working in an office that had mandatory long sleeve shirt + pants rules. Without AC. Felt like dying.

There’s this Dutch sex pest dude that is having a niche popularity on youtube. He visits Thailand and surroundings and has a vlog of whatever he is doing there. Very mysoginistic of course and as I said he is a literal sex pest.

But he has these rare moments in his vlog in which he talks about life that make me think he is very aware of how the capitalist system works. He just started taking the wrong conclusions and is doing this with his life instead of improving it. Basically taking the individualist approach instead of organising. It’s very weird to see, but also from a sociologist POV very interesting. Fuck the guy though.

Also, Pride Week in my city this week. I ordered a subtle ACAB shirt and I intend to wear it. Not sure if I participate in the parade or if I’ll just watch though.

Been gone a while because I’ve been dealing with royal pain in the ass government and health insurance burocracy, the stress makes it hard to find time to think about anything else. I can’t imagine what it’s like in the US where the same sort of matters could put you in debt for life, jfc.

There finally is an increase in attention for femicide in The Netherlands. Every 8 days a woman gets killed.

Sadly the attention is because the femicides happen.
