“Soviet refugee” is kinda misleading because it looks like her family fled from Banderites

I know this personally — my father’s family was lucky to flee in the nick of time, avoiding the fate of over a million Ukrainian Jews murdered during the Holocaust. The role that local Ukrainians played in murdering their Jewish neighbors with the Nazis, whether by force or with enthusiasm, is a painful question only beginning to be studied. My dad, who grew up in Ukraine, had to later leave it as well because it was so difficult for a Jew to be accepted in a Ukrainian university.

The vagueness of this statement feels nefarious. As if she knows who is truly at fault, but doesn’t want to say it out loud because in her book she is glazing up the man who is propping up the supporters of said perpetrators. She has the moral backbone of a chocolate éclair.

Unlocking your inner Zelensky sounds like inciting to kidnapping, human trafficking and many more things for which you land in prison if you aren’t US-backed dictator

Also last paragraph is hilarious “banality of evil is cool”

That part about being a “spiritual nerd” is pretty telling too. I know plenty of people who describe themselves as “religious,” and who are the farthest thing you could find from a fascist. But the moment somebody describes themselves as “spiritual,” the chances of fascism go up to at least 7 in 10. It starts out as “crystals and manifesting your destiny through tantric sex magic,” and ends up as “rediscovering the ancient religion of Aryan Hyperborea to fight the gods of the untermenschen on the astral plane.”

A good book perhaps for anyone aspiring to become a nano-dictator at home or in the workplace.

Is this just another stoicism book that basically tells you to not worry about anything the government is doing and just do nothing?

Just hope you don’t get captured by the Russians and made to do it for 22 straight hours
