Yeah, I use dolphin to play older games like Pikmin and older GameCube/Wii stuff
Took me a while to map the buttons right for pikmin but I figured it out. I love piracy
Regularly, yes. Beats trying to keep old consoles alive. Is there something specific you want to do?
Making an emulator useful often involves piracy, of course.
As it should >:)
Yarrrr!
Officer I only wanted to play Mother 3 that’s it I swear!!!
yes…zsnes, a ps2 emulator that I don’t remember the name of (pcsx2?), dosbox…that and virtualizing other OS’s
Regular VMs aren’t emulation. They use various hardware and software features to isolate themselves from the host OS, allowing them to run a completely different guest OS, but they’re not emulating the OS, they’re actually running the code on your CPU as-is. The only time that involves emulation is if you want to run a VM for a different CPU architecture than the host. Then you need a CPU emulator.
I’ve used various kinds of emulators. I used console emulators (mostly old ones such as Gameboy and SNES) quite a while ago, when I was around 12 years old. I got into it because I found it fun to jailbreak and exploit my iOS devices and in the process stumbled onto emulators, then found that I tend to like older games more than newer ones.
Now, I constantly use CPU emulators for testing my programs on RISC-V, different ARM variants, PowerPC, etc. Most of my programs are written in Go, which outputs a static executable that depends on nothing, so it works really well with emulation. I’ve also used CPU emulation for running VMs that I used for the same purpose (testing my software).
Yes many different kinds. For game console hardware but also for things like RISC-V computers.
I use them on my phone and PC, have been for years. I remember playing N64 games on basically any computer in high school cause Project64 could be put on your flash drive lol
Use it all the time when having to play console-only games like MH4U and Zelda.
I play a lot of Pokemon rom hacks, so yeah, I use them, mainly My Boy for GBA and Drastic for DS.
I have a load of emulators on my psp
What is an emulator?
not WINE.
Yeah, Dolphin and RetroArch.
of course…for gba, for nes, for snes, for psx, a couple of times for ps2
