There’s a reason why slaveowners prevented their slaves from learning on their own.

There’s a reason both USSR and PRC took measures to simplify their respective alphabets and grammars, plus measures to ensure teaching former slaves to read.

The Bolsheviks also took care of orphans after the First World War and the Civil War, because they needed people loyal to the state. If the they really wanted freedom, they would have left these orphans to their fate and let them become marginals and bandits.

Even if you accept that communism = bad, isn’t this a little like saying “my grandpa never had to worry about misunderstanding the order of operations because he always skipped algebra class?”

I’m not sure if I should engage with it as bait or as an earnest take because it’s terrible either way. Like if it’s earnest it’s self-evidently terrible but if this is some bit it’s towing extremely close to an actual belief system of ‘i don’t want to read theory, it will brainwash me’

I’m inclined to believe this too.

        “I won’t watch propaganda!”

        What are you afraid of?!

Alternatively, you could tell them “yes you do,” but they probably won’t believe you.

Media literacy is a tough nut to crack. When someone avoids critical thinking and is so propagandized that they can’t recognize propaganda they are fed, I’m not sure there is any way to get through to them.

Some people are so comfortable in the system and enjoy the privileges it provides them that any efforts to explain how the system hurts others is a waste of time.

This but unironically. EDIT: I mean the title, not what the guy is saying. I posted this before even opening the contents.
