Meanwhile sputniknews.com is running headlines like How Joseph Stalin Became the Chief of the American Indians.[0] Bizarrely this also claims it was the Indian Confederation of America that awarded him this. In 1943 they also awarded this to Dwight D . Eisenhower lol. Not sure if this is the same as Confederation of Indian Americans, the far-right group that tried to replace the BIA.

EDIT: wrong NYTimes article. This one is much older. The one referenced above is actually here[1]. The article also has a quote by Chief Fallen Trees called Roosevelt “our Great White Father” lol
Hmm ok I got access to the article through The Wikipedia Library. I can’t share my link but if you have institutional access, you can see it here.[0] Even more strange is that this NYTimes article claims it was the Red Men of America. Which I truly hope is not the same thing as the Improved Order of Red Men. More helpfully it claims it was Chief Paul Horn who awarded this. He is a member of the Kootenai tribe

Yeah there’s 0 mention of what tribe this is or who they represent lol. Turtle Island is home to hundreds of different languages and cultures. Although there was major cross-nation alliances and federations, there’s still at least 100 language groups in California alone.
