I will never understand the appeal of “light mode.” So harsh. So aggressively bright. How can one stare at this and not have tears streaming down ones face as the eyes beg for mercy? My heart bleeds for your retinas comrade.

Edit: I made this joke at like 2am when I was laying in bed unable to go back to sleep.

One thing it is good for is if you’re outside. I find dark mode much harder to read when the screen is in the sun.

Which is why there are apps that let you dynamically switch between light and dark mode depending on the ambient light levels.

While that is fair I’d argue if I’m outside I’m doing outsiding stuff and trying to avoid messing about on my phone in general. If I’m on my phone wasting time I’m probably inside where there’s less light in general. So things that don’t switch automatically I just default to dark mode.

I’ve been using the internet like this since the 90s and am used to it.

personally I don’t mind dark mode, but everything these days (especially in the Linux/Unix world that I inhabit) has to be dark and flat, and as a child of the 90’s I need some brightness from time to time.

Idk is that what this is? I just assume everything worth using has a dark mode available. lol
