There are millions in sub-employment under large corporations which exploits their workers like slaves, kids as young as 14 years old are working traveling full kilometers in a bicycle carrying food for a middle class consumer who ordered something on an app, in return of 5 reais per kilometer, which can’t even pay a full meal.
Meanwhile the Congress are trying more and more to pass bills which would “flexibilize” the contract between employers and employees, in essence, trying their best to legalize this slavery
That’s it – Corruption, backwardness, slavery and hunger. So, following the “reasoning” of this propaganda piece, Brazil is definitely a communist country
If the communists in Brazil are notable enough to be getting directly slandered like this, then that means they’re a real threat! Unless Bolsonoro means “communist” in the liberal sense.
You don’t need any communism to have literally entire state build on the notion of anticommunism.
This is just recycled cold war BS. The spectre of communism never left the far right wing, who uses it to gain popularity.
Unfortunately, any form of revolutionary left was pretty much wiped out in our military dictatorship.
Only in this election (of all times) the communist party is running candidates for president, governors and legislative. A historical moment for the country, if you ask me, but some are criticizing, because it can steal some votes from Lula and thus favoring Bolsonaro reelection.
The same argument gets thrown around every single election here in the US and it never makes any sense. If no one votes for small parties, then those parties will stay small forever. It’s such short-sighted thinking.
Agree, pt is not the only leftist party, i agree that we should vote on the most important members of PT, like Lula and Haddad, for the sake of unity, but the communist party deserves to have at least some participation.
Elections here, bad as they are, are still not comparable to the shitshow in the US.
We don’t have two parties and a rest made of insignificants, we actually have only one that consistently runs for (presidential) second turn - Worker’s Party. PDT, PSDB, PSOL, PV, PCdoB, those have considerable power in certain states.
To give an idea, mrBolsonaro’s party wasn’t one that usually got much light, it was essentially a “rented” one. He needed a party to accept him, he won, and later formally left the party.
You are right that the Brazilian fascist corporate-military dictatorship of 1964–1985 wiped out many of our intellectuals, leaders and militants. It was a massive loss to the communist movement in Brazil. But to say “any form of revolutionary left was wiped out” is a underestimation of the currently existing revolutionary organizations of Brazil, especially PCR and PCB
It’s not even fair to compare what PCB was to what was left of it after the dictatorship.
That is why I said on my next paragraph the historical importance of PCB running the presidential elections.
