If countries have to choose sides

You assume this is the case in a world maintained by a web of physical violence the US has spun. The US will not grant them that choice, just as they will not grant Jamaica the use of Chinese 5G.

This, I believe it’s too late for the west in terms of moving towards cooperation instead of falling towards reactionary fascism and protectionism.

Oh I’m talking about places like EU, South Korea, and Japan. They don’t have much of a choice either, and even US doesn’t have the clout to threaten them militarily.

Huh? Why would the US need to threaten them militarily? SK and Japan are already puppets.

Their economies are heavily dependent on China, and when China passes this law then companies doing business with US would be cut off. And that’s the whole beauty of capitalism, the companies have no loyalty to their own government and certainly not to US. They will do what’s good for their bottom line.
