What do you folks like to listen to? These days, it’s impossible for me to separate my politics from my leisure…

Lol, not usually the anthem… But a lot of USSR music, indeed. Right now, especially songs from the time of the Revolution, such as Varshavianka, Red Flag, Tachanka song, and so on. Also music from other socialist countries, mostly the DPRK (I have a huge playlist of Korean music that I like, can give you a link of you want) and the GDR. Also, some US unionist music — do you know “Hold the Fort”?

But I’ll listen to basically anything if it has socialist or progressive lyrics. So, I’m interested in other suggestions.

There’s a great communist rap scene in Germany. They’re mostly affiliated with the (now defunct) Jugendwiderstand, a Maoist youth organization. Here’s a list: Vizzion, Disarstar, Taktikka, Camaro, Delirium/Zynik and a few others I’m forgetting. There is also a small documentary/interview from RT Deutsch with Taktikka and another here.

I have been getting disillusioned with mainstream music too. I usually follow https://albumoftheyear.org for new releases but pop music does not appear cool to me so I don’t like whatever is being signal boosted there and the reviews are very weird.

I found this album on bandcamp: https://projectlazarus.space/album/cccp-001

It’s sovietwave (like Interstellar OST but if Zimmerman was cool and a comrade) and seems to be produced by a comrade. You can download the album without paying anything if you like so that is cool too.
