I think it was something to the effect of “we saved Europe from fascism and they will never forgive us for it.”

Now we will save the world, and they will never forgive us for it

which is good, because we shall never forgive them either

Finland’s air force flag had a swastika in it and they kept it for decades after WW2 for some very interesting reason…

I remember a few years ago someone mentioned this on Reddit Europe. The comments were some Olympics tier mental gymnastics, scrambling to justify why it totally didn’t mean anything actually

The […] public declaration of a “separate war” was immediately compromised, notably by Finnish defense propaganda: when Finland entered into Operation Barbarossa, Finland was imagined as fighting to save the New Europe—not exclusively Finland—from the “Asian plague.” Given the paradox of fighting a “separate war” to install the racially privileged New Europe, it is difficult not to see an ideological convergence that goes well beyond a merely pragmatic, military relationship between the “brothers-in-arms.”

You hate it because you are a nazi and because of that USSR moped the floor with you and all your Eastern European ally puppets so hard that you cope to this day because of it.

Finland was an Axis power. Even the Western Allies declared war on them. If Iraq can be justified as an Axis Power, then fascist Finland definitely can be.

Remember, if your country is part of an alliance that’s fighting a war, you can always try switching sides and pretend that you were never “actually” involved if it becomes clear that the side you are on is losing.

Is no one on Historymemes talking about how much they’re trying to rehabilitate Nazis with all these new memes? Like seriously, no one’s concerned?

this is an old neonazi tactic, winter war propaganda is very popular where holocaust denial is outlawed. it’s very confusing and muddied the most important thing to remember is that this is nazi propaganda and that it’s popular because it’s confusing as shit. If it was very clear cut which side finland was on it wouldn’t be a major focus of neo nazi propaganda. So rather than get bogged down in all the infinitesimal details just call them a nazi. dont start in with a reasonable argument going “finland was this that or the third thing” they don’t care and you’re just falling right for their trap.
