Instagram posts were filled with disgusting comments. Banners were brought out by certain ultra groups. Captains of teams refused to wear a rainbow on their shirt.

But we live in a progressive country, guys.

Just a wild guess: did the comments say things like “don’t bring politics into sports”?

Also, aren’t ultras supposed to be even further left than us (basically utopian socialists)? Why the hell would they be anti-LGBT+?

Football ultras are hard core supporters that make the noise in the stadium. They can be far right to far left. Not political ultras, sorry for the confusion.

Yes, some banners said: no woke, yes coke (cocaine). Other just outright hated gay people. One captain said he did not want to do it because he’s Muslim but proceeded to play with gambling sponsors on the shirt, which a muslim also cannot do. So it’s just hating gays.

Unfortunately large parts of the working class are still anti-'woke, anti-LGTBQ+ and right wing. They won’t be convinced by a party that displays all kinds of ‘woke’ stuff, like treating gay people as normal people.

It’s a thing our party continues to have problems with. Equality is a thing we are not willing to debate on or to compromise on, and for some working class people that’s a line they won’t cross. Tough luck.

Yeah. Some working class people will tolerate eating roaches and letting their landlord fuck their wife of it means they get a wee little chance to participate in a lynching or classic f* g drag.

            Such a shame and disappointment.

It sent some progressive types into a spiral, because we have to respect muslims and we have to fight for the LGBTQ+ community. No, fuck him. If he doesn’t see another person as a human being, he can get fucked.

On the other hand, right wingers don’t seem to know what to do. Defend LGBTQ+ rights all of a sudden, or insult muslims.

So they decide to insult both

This is why I hate the Dutch. The ‘progressive’ ones are so smug abt how their country is sooo progressive which then ignores that this shit happens.

Carnival itself as a festivity of the people is fun. But unfortunately sexual misbehavior, racism and drinking yourself to death came with the package deal.

I come from the regions of carnival and I grew up with it. When I was younger I had to go with my parents, who spend four days in a bar while my brother and I played football outside for four days in February. When I got older, I didn’t go aside from the odd day here and there. Fun.

Now, Black Pete on the other hand…

There are some based ultra groups:

      Sankt Pauli, Germany

      Standard de Liège, Belgium

      AS Livorno

But a lot of them have big issues unfortunately. Shame on the workers’ sport that is football.

As someone that’s part of an ultra section from time to time, I’m yet again disappointed by the behavior of certain clubs and other ultra groups.

Not that I had any expectations to begin with.

As an update for this: after an ‘official’ statement put out by the group I am sometimes a part of, I have decided to let them go fuck themselves. Bunch of wankers.

Something similar happened with my favorite baseball team. They had a pride night event but for some reason they decided to let players opt in to the event. This allowed 5 players to not wear hats with rainbow colors, to show how Christian they are, as they put it. It was a disgrace. The Tampa Bay Rays pride night dates back to the shooting in Orlando and so seeing players not “opt in” to pride felt like a way of disrespecting victims as well as the fans that showed up to watch baseball and feel welcomed. It’s such a disgrace.

Why can’t we have this one thing?? Even if it is cynical for enterprises to rainbow wash things, can we at least do it without concern trolling about if Jesus freaks are offended? They can come still celebrate memorial day with Boeing and applaud US death priests so let queer folk have one goddamned day without libertarian freeze peach bullshit!!
