Instagram posts were filled with disgusting comments. Banners were brought out by certain ultra groups. Captains of teams refused to wear a rainbow on their shirt.

But we live in a progressive country, guys.

    This is why I hate the Dutch. The ‘progressive’ ones are so smug abt how their country is sooo progressive which then ignores that this shit happens.

        Carnival itself as a festivity of the people is fun. But unfortunately sexual misbehavior, racism and drinking yourself to death came with the package deal.

        I come from the regions of carnival and I grew up with it. When I was younger I had to go with my parents, who spend four days in a bar while my brother and I played football outside for four days in February. When I got older, I didn’t go aside from the odd day here and there. Fun.
