I hadn’t heard of the Fort Detrick stuff.

The ignorance surrounding Taipei. “They aren’t part of China.” Have you told them that? Cause even the ROC claims they are.

It’s actually more plausible than you’d think. There certainly has been a lot of suspicious behavior from the US around Fort Detrick, and we know for instance the US has been involved in dozens and dozens of biolabs in Ukraine and Georgia, and probably even more countries adjacent to Russia and China. Either way if it did come from a lab the main culprit would be the US, whether a US army lab in Maryland or the gain of function research lab they were involved in running in Wuhan. But so far i am not aware of either China or Cuba - two countries i trust the most to have the biomedical scientific capabilities to investigate and the willigness to tell the truth - having said that the virus shows characteristics of having been engineered. Not that it would really matter for the purposes of mounting a competent pandemic response anyway.

The virus shows signs of being engineered? How so?

Yeah i was saying that as far as i know there has been no announcement by either Chinese or Cuban scientists that the virus shows signs of artificial engineering.

Which is why i personally don’t give too much credence to lab leak theories, at least not ones that involve its deliberate creation as a bioweapon.

I specify China or Cuba because those are the only countries i trust to have the expertise and honesty to tell us if this was the case.

you mightve read that backwards, they were indicating they hadn’t heard China/Cuba say the virus might be engineered.

OH. Yes, I read that as: “That all being said, the virus shows characteristics of being engineered.” Oop!
