It amazes me that there are people in Russia who legitimately think that “removing Putin from power” would be enough. Or that putting him and his clique into Hague would be enough. Unless of course they are actually self loathing enough to think that demands of people like in the OP’s picture are righteous and correct.

There are people in Russia that dreams about Yeltsin’s system, they want the complete disbandment of the army, nuclear disarmament and full control of corporations over all the resources of the country. Who believe that then there will be peace in the world, there will be no more wars and there will be freedom everywhere and in general they will live like in Europe / the USA.

How is it even possible to be that stupid? O.o Seems like these morons watched too many Hollywood movies - I’m thinking it’s mostly just young kids, don’t think any of them actually experienced Yeltsin era…

This is ideology of political cuckoldism. Or idiotism.

I don’t understand how you can come to such conclusions, in the era of the all-accessible Internet, when even the freaking Wikipedia indicates that even if you completely destroy country X militarily and politically, there will be no paradise and prosperity in the world. You can come to such conclusions either if you are a complete idiot who refuses to read a course of general history, or a conscious puppet, for whom the chance to rise at least a little above your compatriots, whom you hate so much (but in public, of course, you will say that you are the most ardent patriot and humanist), is more precious than the welfare of these compatriots.

This is the ideology of Vlasov and Yeltsin.

I don’t get it, what is it about the West which so many people find so seductive? I mean, I am from an ex-socialist country and now live in a Western country - this type of society is a blatant and obvious shithole lol. And that’s WITH all the imperialism and profits flowing in from super-exploitation of the third world. Can you imagine how dysfunctional it would be without that???

People who don’t actually live in it only experience the west through hollywood and other western media that portrays the west as a bastion of good and progressiveness against the backwards easterner hordes. They also believe all westerners are super rich living in mansions and driving ferraris all thanks to making good liberal decisions for their country.

These people intuitively understand that their own country has serious problems and isn’t a paradise, but because instead of reading books they watch hollywood movies the only solution they can come up with for their country’s shortcomings is that “we should do as westerners dictate to us, then we too, can all have mansions and drive ferraris just like the Americans do!”

This is why socialist states have been (rightfully) banning western media. Liberal media is only a mouthpiece of the rich.

God I wish all countries on this planet would just fucking ban “liberal media”. Every time I turn on TV I get to see ““Documentaries of History”” which are suspiciously one-sided and TV shows that bash and make fun of socialism at every chance they can get.

You forgot tourism and immigration. I feel a lot of people here underestimate the power of a good image, especially one that could be experienced in person. If you visit Prague or Florence as a tourist, while living in Russia all your life, you’d be forgiven for thinking “they have it better”.

For immigration I mainly mean people who left after USSR collapse (or around the time) and moved to USA. Plus the young specialists (mainly IT guys) who moved westwards in semi-recent years. You listen to their stories and you watch them on social media, then you turn on the TV and see a toad like Kisilev talking about patriotism (while you’re pretty sure he’s got a British passport).

Don’t fall into “people are brainwashed by the media” trap. While the media is heavily responsible, it’s not the sole culprit.

That’s true. I’m from a west Asian country though and I tell people back home that the west is not that great but they think I’m just trying to make them feel better or something and don’t believe me. The power of media is pretty influential as well, at least when it comes to west Asia. Perhaps for Russia it’s different, I don’t have experience with that.

Precisely. Those people scare me (I know a couple personally). I just don’t understand the logic. It honestly sounds like a cult at times.
