my favourite that isn’t on this list is claiming Zedong thought is its own unique ideology, not just an addendum to Marxism-Leninism in the Chinese situation, and try to use that to prove that Deng made China state-capitalist and bad. Which, really, is just a bunch’a non-Chinese speakers using an ideology that isn’t what they think (and Chinese people don’t use to describe their political ideals) and an ideology that doesn’t exist to prove that the biggest socialist economy in the world - ever - is somehow actually capitalist and evil.

Just read about a wikipedia edit war on the uyghur genocide page, where the top two editors of the page are defending him. Both of them admittted to not speaking chinese too lol.
Not to sound like an idiot, but I thought the Social Credit System was real (but relatively minor)? I’m only recently learning about China and how many lies I’ve been told so any information would be super appreciated.
From what I have read it’s used to allow loans to people who don’t have a credit history. It’s not an all encompassing score that goes up and down depending on what you post on the internet.
More people in the US have heard of the “social credit” system than people in China. Like most of their finance laws, its used to punish the wealthy for financial corruption. Good thread by ian goodrum detailing it:
