Perhaps it is a symptom of the overall culture of excess? Which itself is the result of the capitalist basis. Plus the commodification of everything, including human bodies.

Say you have a car (please bear with me, c/FuckCars). In a socialist culture, what would be the important elements of it? How it does the job. In capitalism, it is not enough, it has to be better than your neighbor’s (otherwise there’s no commodity appeal). Bigger, louder, brighter. And then the same logic is applied to women.

Yes undoubtedly, the ubiquitousness of it is result of the commodification in capitalism and general porn mania, but i’m more asking about, where does that even came from? It is really some freudian Venus of Villendorf fetish possibly mixed with confused oedipus complex both sitting in the primitive monkey part of brain?

deep rooted mommy issues and something with breast feeding?

I never got the whole hysteria with it either so I can’t tell you.

I used to have a (completely facetious) theory that American men are so terrified of being thought gay that any woman they’re with has to be identifiable as female from a good two miles away.

Certain interactions I’ve since witnessed have led me to believe that this theory may have more substance than I thought.

I noticed it too actually. There is also the same thing about another shitty bodyshaming meme, “T H I C C”.

Fitting that “thick” can also be a slang term for “stupid”

Good question. I’m not sure, really. Although I don’t think there’s really a need to go deep into psychology there

Oh, boy. If you wanna know it, study neuromarketing. Trust me, it’s a hell of a ride, and a really preposterous one.
