Anyone who recognizes that human material life is solely between humans and the material, and that change needs to be brought about through human interaction with the material world, then they are a Materialist. You don’t know an individuals personal beliefs, it’s also none of your business. If they apply a material analysis that benefits the revolution, they are Materialist and they are Marxist.
