Yeah when she was done moaning about being in the same subway carriage as someone she perceived to be Muslim (like lets be honest, they where just clearly SE asian im not sure how she could tell) she immediately started talking about how much she hated ‘mainlanders’ lol.

I did manage to get in some bits about how I really liked Mao and Deng though and how nicer Shenzhen is relative to HK lol…

    Absolutely spot on.

I lived in HK for 6 months so im familiar with the type.

People native to hk tend to either be like cool with communism and pro China and also not a reactoid, or this kind of lady which is basically someone who was cool with the apartheid and segregation and is vocally super racist against anyone who isn’t white.

I was on a date with a lady from Hong Kong recently and she started complaining about how there was Muslims on the subway here.

I was like, what do you mean?

    ‘Oh I was so scared!’

Like they wherent doing anything she just associated them with terrorism and crime.

Yeah they arent getting a 2nd date lol.

  • If anyones been following trumps legal cases they know how utterly incompetent he is in anything to do with legalism, like Alex Jones level of delusion.

However on the other hand, the ‘Trump is going to get fucked in the courts!’ discourse flying around the internet right now ignores the reality that the US upper class have literally never actually been beholden to the courts and flips the relationship on its head. (as if the puppet started to control its master)

It is idealism which is most often expressed by liberal democrats. Like the discourse around this is the vibe of ‘trump didnt have the legal backing to do this’ rather than just saying what he did was wrong.

It ignores the reality of the US world order, which is might = right. The house always wins.

Its going to be a Kangaroo court, any talks between Maduro and Trump/the military have already happened and they both know the outcome ahead of time.

  • Why would the single largest anti communist force on the planet back communists?

To address this comment in the linked thread - The US backs literally everyone all the time.

That might seem contradictory, it isnt, the US backed Castro during the Cuban revolution by sending them material aid and money. Does that make Castro compromised by the US? Of course not, like Marx said when talking about trading stocks; it is good to deprive the enemy of its money.

Thats just how rich the US is, it can afford to hedge its bets by funding literally every side of a conflict so if one wins it can leverage this support, of course it will make its primary motives clear in who it most funds but it will usually use indirect vectors to also hedge on the unfavorable odds, usually through proxies; this is most apparent in how they initially supported the Khemer Rouge by creating the conditions that allowed Pol Pot to take power and using them as a Balwark against China/Vietnam/Laos.

I was reading Thomas Sankara’s perspective on this recently actually - he made a passing reference to how after the boers where kicked out of Angola lots of opportunistic factions scrambled to seize power, and he gave examples of groups in Angola who claimed to be socialist/marxist but were actually just people looking to enrich themselves at other peoples expense and who had ties to colonial powers.

He was talking about it in a way that he wanted to avoid that happening in his own country, which ended up happening and lead to his death in a coup so man was probably onto something.

I think its just power vaccum and extreme poverty that does this,
