Yes it is, funny in a sad, sick kind of way. That was within a half hour of hitting “regular” Lemmy, this morning. I’m not sure if Western media is getting worse, “regular” Lemmy is getting worse, or if I’m just scrolling with a more skeptical eye. The claim it has a Chinese origin is just asserted with next to no evidence.
They say that they tricked a major ring leader into a video call and he ended up being Japanese. If a major player in the community is a Japanese man why are they insisting it started in China?
Running an online community costs money. The CIA is the most likely to have an interest in keeping a rollodex of psychopaths.
