Sharp contrast in their attitudes toward this hero and the 17-year-old Nazi but I don’t think anyone here will be surprised.

I was wondering how they found him out as a suspect, then I read he was on video from cell phones of bystanders, and presumably the police got these phones and just ran an image of his in some facial recognition software to figure out who he was. I was able to find a video online showing someone in a mask that was claimed to be a suspect, because the video was taken at the location where the guy was shot, but it only had a few thousand views, and was posted days later.

What’s weird is this part of his story before he died:

Since the shooting, Reinoehl said he’s gone into hiding, and moved his children to a safe place after shots were fired into his house just hours after the incident. “They’re out hunting me,” he said. “There’s nightly posts of the hunt and where they’re going to be hunting. They made a post saying the deer are going to feel lucky this year because it’s open season on Michael right now.”

Given that it is highly doubtful random right-wingers just happened to recognize the person from any video posted online, one can only conclude law enforcement did the facial recognition search quickly, and then immediately passed the information to people who would be given free reign to fire bullets into his house.

Edit: Vice interview says he was fingered that night on 4chan as a suspect, not sure how.

Edit2: Story about the 4chan thing, still don’t see how they could have identified him without access to some sort of police records regarding his neck tattoo.

Although I wouldn’t be surprised if social media-scraping facial recognition stuff is available to non-cop users on the internet by now.

A quick internet search reveals there are sites out there with large databases to search through, but none of them appear to be free, or even priced in a way that an individual could afford. I could be wrong though.

People are saying he’s a cop-operation or something

I’m pretty sure there are people paid to go to the chans and say everything is a false-flag, as it happens with literally everything.

People are radicalizing incredibly quickly under the current economic and political conditions. Back in May, shortly after the first protests for George Floyd began, some CTH users reported seeing people they interacted with becoming radicalized. This could in fact just be one of those people.
