Everything about this is ultimately traced back to the US. The guy making the insensitive comment about the nuclear bombings is because of the decades of US propaganda that it was justified and righteous, steeped in racism against the Japanese. And the Japanese comments are all spouting the exact type of racism against Black people inherited from the US.

I’d put Anime down as “mixed” honestly lol. There are plenty of good things to come out of Japan, more than just the videogames and cartoons/movies. Its the horrendous government and reactionary society that make it a terrible place, in another world it could be a better Japan making the entertainment so many of us enjoy.
Fr, many good things came from Japan even before WW2/20th century but unfortunately it all got stained by the government that dictates it. Just imagine if Japan wasn’t USA puppet and got rid of it’s fascist government.
I always thought a lot of Japanese culture was pretty community-oriented and free toxic individualism, and respected tradition while being quite open to other cultures. Seems like (at least on the surface) a good base for socialism to build upon. It’s a shame they turned to fascism and capitalism.
