    Ian Goodrum from China Daily gave a great talk on Proles of the Round Table (RIP) on how most foreign correspondents in China don’t speak any Chinese and live and work in the expat centers of Beijing and Shanghai, which are also some of the wealthiest areas. As a result, all of their associates are either expats or wealthy Chinese people (who are the most likely to be anti-communist because they’d have the most to gain from the CPC losing power). They’re stuck in an echo chamber of thinking the CPC is always teetering on the edge of collapse

    However, if they actually spoke the language, knew working-class people, and went to the smaller cities and countryside where CPC support is strongest, they’d find a very different story
