I think this meme is opposite of Apologia op, like he’s talking about people saying “the nuke was necessassiry” and uses the generals’ quotes as a proof that they’re wrong
It’s confusing to see a reasonable-ish post from that subr*ddit
people saying “the nuke was necessassiry”
Fuckin r/Shitwehraboos say. For a sub designed to shit on Nazi apologists they sure have plenty of genocide apologists.
They also did it to intimidate the USSR that had already prepared a land invasion. Said invasion was the primary motive for the surrender, then the Yankees nuked Japan to keep it in its sphere of influence…
They were ready to surrender because of USSR and Mongolia, also, wonder what that guy Eisenhower did after WW 2…
What a nice gentleman, surely he wouldn’t commit several war crimes in North Korea
Does anybody know what Chinese people think of the bombings? As far as what I’ve seen on the Chinese internet, people seem not to be sympathetic at all. Many Chinese people’s families were hurt very very much by Japanese war crimes, so they care less about Japanese people’s lives. In the minds of many Chinese people, Japanese people are all bad, because they think the Japanese don’t give a shit about the Rape of Nanjing and other war crimes, but I know that it isn’t the fault of the Japanese people because it’s just their education.
TBF, many Soviet citizens, especially those who saw the Second World War (and you know what shit the Nazis did on the land of the USSR), did not forget nor forgive the Germans, although in fact it was not the fault of the whole nation, and later the USSR and the GDR became faithful allies.
So, I would not be surprised if many Chinese do not sympathize with Japan, especially if their government continues to deny the war crimes of the imperial army.
Something I would hope more Chinese people (and people generally) might become aware of is how many of the victims (approximately 20%) were Korean slave laborers. This is not to dismiss the suffering of many Japanese civilians, but this historical fact makes many reconsider their stance on the whole thing I think. It wasn’t like the U.S. nuked just military installations and no civilians died. They didn’t just lob a bomb at Hirohito’s face. It was population centers where many of the victims were also victims suffering under Japanese fascism.
