Ramzan Kadyrov, President of Chechnya, reports on Telegram that Severodonetsk, the last big city in the Lugansk Peoples Republic still occupied by Ukraine, has just been liberated by russian and LPR forces. The nazis fled the city in tears trying to escape the russian offensive and encirclement, allowing Russia to liberate the city without bloodshed. The nazis fled in such hurry that they left all their western weapons behind. The weapons will be transfered to the LPR army. Hurray!

Mini-rant: I can understand (to some extent) being against Russia entering the other parts of Ukraine because innocent people have been killed, but I can’t think of any reasonable argument against the liberation of the DPR and LPR considering what the Nazi fucks have been doing for eight years

Yeah but the problem with this reasoning is it defies the realities of war. If Russia just went into Donbass, no attacks in the rest of Ukraine, it would have been very hard (if not impossible) to liberate Donbass, because doing that meant letting Ukraine send all the reinforcements and weapons it wants to Donbass, prolonging the war and thus killing more people. You would have probably had a Soviet Afghan War type situation, in which you cannot win because enemies continue arriving en masse and you cant stop them from coming. And even if they succeded in liberating just Donbass, it would have been pointless, because Ukraine can continue firing artillery at Donbass. You just moved the area they terrorize westward, but people would continue dying. Finally, Ukraine would have probably launched regular offensives to try to recapture Donbass. Hell, they say they will attack Crimea too! This logic defies reality. There is only 1 way to liberate Donbass, and that is toppling the ukrainian government. Without that Donbass will never be safe.

Yea also missing the fact that Zelensky very, very quickly commanded the country to fight to the very last man and committed to not surrendering. Barring men from leaving the country, releasing Nazi child rapists from prison to be soldiers, etc.

There’s no way to liberate Donbas or remove the NATO threat (Putin’s real objective) in this situation without completely subduing the entire country into submission

Oh, I completely agree; I was trying to think from the perspective of a generic Western “leftist”. Back in February, when I knew basically nothing about the situation aside from “there are a decent number of Nazis in Ukraine and they’ve been attacking the Donbas region”, I assumed that they would just enter that specific region, but learning more made it clear that the Nazis weren’t going to stop just because Russian troops were there.

Yeah i see. Ive heard several “western leftists” say that to me. “No the invasion is bad, they should have just went into Donbass”. They just cant shake off the western narrative that poor ukrainians hate Russia and want Russia out. Most ukrainians either like Russia or like nobody/dont care. The few people who are against Russia (most of them are from western Ukraine, mainly Lviv) have either been brainwashed into believing western propaganda (“Pootin dictator, west good, freedom good, EU good” type stuff) or are ideological ukrainian nationalists/neonazis (the line between the 2 is not very clear). Most people are the former, the latter are a minority, although a very powerful minority.

Also ukrainian propaganda went into full overdrive after the special military operation began. I know a very sweet lady from Lviv, Ukraine. Before the special military operation, while she was a proEU liberal (“Putin dictator, EU good”), she wasnt antirussian. I talked to her several times and she said “Crimea and Donbass are full of russians. If they want to be part of Russia so be it, i dont care. What i dont want is a war”. She also said “yes in Ukraine there are a lot of neonazis, it is a problem indeed. Stepan Bandera was nazi scum”. But after Russia went into Ukraine she went bollocks, probably because of the increased propaganda on ukrainian TV. She went full “we must get back Crimea and Donbass, they are ukrainian lands. This is all Russias fault, russians want to kill us all. I mean yeah we have a lot of nazis in the military, so what? They are fighting for Ukraine, thats all i care about”. Seriously i was shocked how much she changed her views. She also peddled crazy conspiracy theories like “actually the russian military is very weak, they dont even have nuclear weapons, thats russian propaganda”. Its shocking how much propaganda can brainwash people.

She went as far as cutting all ties with her russian cousins. They live in Russia and support the special military operation and she cut them off completely, doesnt speak to them anymore.

Yeah it really sucks. Because of the propaganda she even cut some of her family off. She has some russian cousins who live in Russia and they support the special military operation, and she cut them off! She doesnt speak to them anymore!
