Let me start off with the fact that NATO is most definitely to blame for this mess. From the moment they staged their coup in Ukraine, they began the path to this war. That however does not mean we should support Russia. Lenin’s principle of Revolutionary Defeatism should be our guide. The working class has nothing to gain from a war between capitalist powers. And Russia is a capitalist power. It is us who do the fighting, us who bear the brunt of the economic impacts. This can be seen in the sanctions on Russia. The rich only get richer, the poor only get poorer. This war helps neither the Russian proletariat nor the Ukrainian. The only solution is deescalation. We should still support the independence of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions, but that doesn’t mean we have to support Russia’s actions. They are not invading with good intentions. Putin is not trying to denazify Ukraine out of the goodwill of his heart. Russia is pursuing its own nationalist aimes. Nothing about this war in anyways moves us towards revolution. In a war between imperialist countries, the only result will be more devastation. This is not both sideism. It’s opposing lesser evilism. The initial moderator statement was closer to what it should be. It was approved by every moderator except RedstarXtreme. The biggest error of the statement was implying that the Reddit admins were justified in quarantining this community. They were not. I like the statement by r/sendinthetanks better so be sure to check that out. I’m open to discussion.

While some of your points are correct, the others are far off in my opinion. Critical support is what we are going to commit to because it is smartest thing. Russia has its own intentions yes, and that is literally the point of critical support.
My support will be uncritical for Russia if they send me AS Val and ak 15
hook me up with that AK12, I’ll get a tattoo of Putin on my back.
wait they have ak 15s? The last I heard of was ak12s!
12 is outdated. 15s the latest serial revision and from what I know is somewhat better.
The war is a net negative so it deserves no support.
Sorry, but I support the people who are killing nazis right now
No arguing with that lol. Cant help but get a little happiness seeing Azov getting obliterated. Ukraine still sucks too.
actually I see it as a positive, the east is more unified and is far stronger, while the west is weaker, allowing for more communist sway. The east is only able to be powerful enough to resist the west, which will still allow for socialism to spread there as well. Russia being stronger will not stop anything we need done, but the acceleration of the imperialist bloc’s demise will only accelerate our growth.
The east is if anything weaker. NATO has more countries considering joining than ever. Russia is no friend of ours. A capitalist war only hurts the working class in Ukraine and Russia so I don’t see how that benefits socialism.
I was expecting some 4D chess minded answer as to why we shouldn’t Russia and was prepared to genuinely listen, unfortunately this is just the same trampled dogmatist argument all us have heard. Was the Soviet Union wrong to arm and support the Chinese nationalist when they were at war with Imperial Japan? No difference here, except that NATO currently stands as a bigger obstacle to worldwide socialism then the fascist powers of WW2 did.
I’m honestly getting tired of seeing it. We’re supposed to do better than the anarchists, troskyists, and maoists.
There’s quite a big difference between the two. Chinese nationalists, however reactionary, were never imperialist. Secondly, the Soviet Union wasn’t just arming nationalists, they were arming a united front of Chinese communists and nationalists against Japanese imperial aggression. After the war, the communists took control. The working class had much to gain from that war.
This war does move us closer to revolution, though. Russia’s opposition to western encroachment has furthered the development of a multipolar world. One consequence that’s already happening is that the US dollar is losing its status as the global currency, which is an especially big deal because that’s what gives them the ability to impose sanctions on other countries.
Again, in what way is a world with more imperialists better? All that causes is more conflict between such powers that only hurts the working class in both countries. The dollar is losing its value for reasons other than this war. If anything, the Russian Ruble is suffering far, far more.
Russia isn’t imperialist in the Marxist sense of the word. Not saying it never will be, but it has not yet reached that stage of capitalism. That said, Russia is aligning itself strongly with China, who is very much socialist. And the working class everywhere will benefit from the creation of an international bloc that opposes the US.
That’s what you’re looking for isn’t it? By a multipolar world you mean a world with multiple imperial cores.
By a multipolar world, I just mean a world with multiple cores. I agree that this isn’t strictly a good thing (the early 20th century was multipolar and we all know how that worked out) but one of those cores is led by a socialist country. The character of this core is incomparable to the one led by the US.
