“I’ll tell you the honest truth: I’m kind of simple-minded when it comes to these things. Whenever I hear a four-syllable word I get skeptical, because I want to make sure you can’t say it in monosyllables… I think: anything that’s at all understood can probably be described pretty simply. Well, considering he went on a crusade against Marxism and especially Marxism-Leninism, that’s pretty… uh, anti-intellectual of him. Not to say plain reactionary garbage.
I feel a lot of left-leaning Americans who are anti-communist and refuse to read and understand Marx look up to him as an intellectual who isn’t Marxist which gives them comfort in their own biases. If he was honest about it, he wouldn’t be able to fulfill his role in as a CIA plant.
