It’s a very interesting finding. Turns out that liberalism doesn’t improve either physical or mental individual conditions. So Socialism isn’t a trade off of benefits just a pure upgrade. Liberals have no legs to stand on at this point.
Seems so, I wonder what fraction of people from individualistic societies are aware this at least on a subconscious level. It’s had for me to have that perspective.
This, but they’ve committed so much to the narrative of ‘there are no alternatives’ they think they have nowhere else to turn. Must be horrible to have liberalism as one’s last refuge while knowing that it does not match reality and cannot explain one’s world.
This makes good sense, I never made the connection between how the importance of a social characteristic can lead to confirmation bias. Good read!

Good question, could be that liberals are so prickly when people question their ideology precisely because they don’t believe in it deep down.
