Laveyan satanism is basically objectivism (ayn rand’s “philosophy”) plus magic

ya should be said TST has disaffilliated w/ Lavey and consider his ideas shit, and also don’t believe in magic. I’m not repping them or anything it’s just that they get mistaken for Church of Satan a lot, which is a larpy ass collective of libertarian idiots who worship Lavey like a prophet

      edit: https://thesatanictemple.com/pages/church-of-satan-vs-satanic-temple

This is a quite long read and I’d only recommend it to anyone very interested in what modern Satanists believe, the schism between them, the differences between the groups etc. a couple of things I want to point out in short though:

      1. TST rejects hyperindividualism in favor cooperation, CoS embraces it.
      2. TST rejects eugenics, social darwinism, and malthusianism, CoS embraces them. TST quotes Kropotkin as a refutation of social darwinism in this article and rejects population collapse myths, understanding that resource distribution is the problem.
      3. TST rejects Laveyan misanthropy and hatred of “the ignorant masses”, CoS venerates figures like Trump, Rockefeller, and even the fucking pope as honorary Satanists because they’re incredibly powerful people.

TST is cringelib shit a lot of the time, in that article they mention they fluctuate between left and right, liberal on some things and conservative on others, and even that they “uphold constitutional values” in the face of “theocrats who want to destroy them” so like I said I’m not repping them. I just appreciate their poetic interpretation of Satan and find some of their ideas pretty fascinating. Yes I read Paradise Lost when I was 16, how can you tell?

also also this is neat, sorry I keep going on, but Anatole France was a communist. He wrote “Revolt of the Angels” which is considered a major part of the literary canon of TST-aligned Satanists.
