There’s word that Microsoft is starting to remotely shut down windows systems in Russia.
The fact that they’re even able to do that is more than enough reason to dump their shite as soon as possible. Presumably nothing too serious is using Windows with Internet access, but it could still cause significant damage
Schools, various commercial structures, very likely government institutions (i.e. the tax service), and many others
With Internet access to the computers where citizens’ files are stored? If so, using a proprietary OS was a really awful idea
Can’t say for all of them, obviously, but yes I would imagine at least some systems - i.e. for receiving digital accounting reports - would require an internet connection.
And while I agree in principle regarding the usage of proprietary software, it was simply convenient.
