Abe’s (Rest is Piss, Bozo!) party has been campaigning for an amendment to the Japanese constitution which would allow Japan to have a “normal” military again. The US is in favor of this.
The US wouldn’t stop them this time. The only reason the US stopped them last time is because Japan attacked the US directly. Japan is considered an ally of the US now so the US will happily let Japan bully its neighbors this time around.
