What country whose government would not be considered socialist or communist, but many of its citizens have strong support for socialism or communism?

If you want to understand the nuance to countries socialist movements, you should check out Le Monde Diplomatique https://mondediplo.com/

They do country deep dives every month that talk about the socialist movements in certain countries.

But there’s a lot outside of the English speaking world. Consider that anti-socialist sentiment mainly derives from the USA, which uses English media to reinforce the dogma.

Some examples though; Belarus, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, Denmark, Brazil, and Ecuador all have strong socialist movements. Quebec, Scotland, and Catalan too if you consider them countries.

Interesting, I didn’t know they were becoming more neoliberal, that’s a shame. At least they let Morales stay in exile there during the coup.
