Anecdotally a while ago I saw this video where some old white woman was having a public meltdown over some teen girls… existing I guess. A couple of them were brown-ish and so she said some racist “go back to your country” nonsense. And the girl she said it to was like “Go back to where I came from? You go back to where you came from you fucking colonizer” and I about died laughing.

Like shit it’s like pulling teeth getting most white “”“leftists”“” to acknowledge settler colonialsim as a primary contradiction in the us and here’s some random teenage girl who has a solid grasp on it

It’s so absurd. Like, it’s a term that came from these same types mocking supporters of the Soviet intervention in Hungary in 1956. You know, a “”“popular”“” uprising where fascists and capitalists supported by the US took legitimate unrest and tried to use it to spark a color revolution. With Hong Kong and Uyghur genocide, as bullshit and thoroughly debunked as they are even now, at least there’s some element of doubt in that they’re very recent and ongoing? But just look at Hungary now and tell me that shit in 1956 wasn’t completely justified.

And yet they still use that word in the exact same way. Fuckin idealism.

  • Yeah, it was in Korean with English subtitles, modern (late 2000s/early 2010s at least). I watched it like a year ago, it was on youtube iirc.

As for the content, it was either about US police brutality in general, or specifically towards black people. The format was a sequence of american news stories: it’d introduce them, it’d show the footage with dubbed voices, there’d be commentary, and so on.

Don’t have much more than that, sorry.
