  • The machine increases the exploitation of the worker by reducing the amount of labor hours it takes to make a thing.

For a simple example suppose holes in the ground have a value, if a capitalist pays a worker to dig holes and the worker can dig 1 hole an hour with a shovel but 2 with an excavator then while paying for the same 1 hour of work the worker will create twice the value for the capitalist.

But really the distinction is mostly semantic and it doesn’t matter much whether Marx was right and the machines create no value or some other economists were right and it takes machines/tools as well as labor to create value hardly matter because either way the capitalist brings nothing to the table.

  • idk if they really did actually not have any legal/institutional/political power like most of they do i wouldnt really care any more than i care about any rich asshole and their family. Having ceremonial positions be hereditary is not crazy and if people wanna keep those traditions around i dont see the problem again as long as the very real powers that many of the still have today get taken away and it really was just ceremonial like that king in Bolivia for example. I think the real problem is that most people dont know how much power these people actually have.

  • This is just a false dichotomy there is not “AAA” games on one side and open source games on the other, smaller professionally made games exists and indie closed source games exists. U can buy, well made “modern” (whatever that means) games that are reasonably priced that dont have any micro transactions and that if they have dlc its good and worth buying, they exists there are lots of them. Open source games are fine but a game doesnt need to be open source to treat its audience with decency.

  • libraries are great but they predate communism, not everything which is good or communal/community centered is communists. The simple act of sharing and cooperating with ur geographical community isnt communist or even revolutionary its just basic human shit. I think neo liberalism and individualism and consumerism have poisoned our brains so much that we can look at something which is just human and assign to it political values that have existed for at most a couple centuries, because it has become so rare.

yeah but there are very few games that are on ps5 and not on pc and of that tiny handful there are only a smaller number i would want to play and the subsets of those games i would actually go thru the trouble of playing on a console for is smaller still. I have had a ps4 almost since launch and i think i have played only 4 games on it ever 2 of them because they were gifted to me and i wanted to try them, the witcher 3 because my PC at the time was a potato and zero dawn because its a amazing game, so considering that i think it would just be a waste to get a ps5 and i would probably feel bad about not using it too.
