Apparently, this has been floating around for about a month now. Even the national bourgeois owned newspaper was publishing this news until the government issued a press release telling that this is all untrue.

Anybody know what’s actually going on?
The bougie press keep talking about the China-India border, but AFAICT it’s the China-Kashmir border. Modi annexed Kashmir, moved in troops, and blocked off communication. I’m guessing it looks to China like he’s massing troops on the border.
