It seems like the stereotype of anarchism but real.
Basically rejecting the old left anarchist ideas of class struggle and revolution and just trying to live a “pure, free anarchist” lifestyle by refusing to work and eating from dumpsters.
I hope it’s just a terminally online phenomenon and most irl anarchists aren’t like that.
A waste of time.
I don’t want to sound too hard on these people since it is capitalism that is indirectly responsible for their defeatism and survivalist philosophy. We all tend to look for ‘shortcuts’ when we are frustrated. But most of us in the lower classes are not going to deal with our problems simply by trying to separate ourselves as much as possible from them (which is unsustainable in the long term). We are going to deal with our problems through class warfare. If you don’t believe me, look at all the strikes in the imperial core.
Ironically, their philosophy is not much different from what neofeudalists propose to anybody who is unhappy with capitalism: grow your own food, make your own shelter, generate your own power (if you need any), recycle everything, and so forth. In this respect, it shares a similarity with Herzlianism and other separatist philosophies in that it merely separates people from the problem rather than tackling it. We are seeing how sustainable that is, and given capitalism’s need for a workforce, trying to live outside of it is not sustainable either. All the police have to do is arrest you (presumably for ‘vagrancy’).
Seems like either something an incoherent liberal cooked up or something drafted in some cubicle in Langley
They have media. They are indeed real, unfortunately. They do seem to take the side of liberals and imperialists a lot though.
Long ago, before I was politically conscious, I saw something from them titled “Why capitalists want you to buy deodorant”. There were many smelly hippy types at my college, and was not looking to join their ranks, so I never read anything from them again. Looks like I made the right choice.
Was the follow-up to that article “Why capitalists want you to come out of the basement and eat dinner with the family”?
lmao
Seems like a privileged thing to be able to do so without being forced to. I see it in my surroundings to some extent. People not wanting to work that much and choosing to do van life for example while having a stable job and a home they can rent out.
Good for them I guess but I’d rather spend my time doing more useful proletarian movement building.
Edit: I was a bit harsh on anarchists and don’t want to start a potential fight right before I go to bed lol
Some do exist in real life and they are functionally indistinguishable from liberals. Once it stops becoming useful to them they will discard it. It’s individualism disguised as ideology.
You must know that many of us do not want to have to wait for the revolution in order to live anarchy. And surely, many of us do or have done actions that lead society to anarchy to a greater degree than, for example, the syndicalists, who seek to unite the strength of the proletariat, waiting for the right moment for the revolution but without it ever arriving.
i think its cool for people to do things that make them feel better… as long as they dont try to push their lifestyle on others.
Richard Spencer will never have a successful idea
“a pure, free anarchist lifestyle that rejects old left ideas of class struggle”
