Be careful with this map because its sources are dominated by the narrative proposed by the US and its vassals. There are way too many lies and disinformation being pushed in Twitter and this map is exclusively citing it.
^The map’s creators are also biased (ua = Ukraine)
Edit: Pro-Syrian sources have posted similar territorial control though, its just I haven’t found an alternative complete map. Take it with a grain of salt.

You are right and it is funny how their coverage changed. In the beginning, the western media and NAFO agents were filling every space in the Internet(including that map and their twitter sources) with exaggerations of ukrainian’s “wins” while underreporting(to put it mildly) their backed ukrainian regime’s losses.
Now, when reality is blatantly obvious to everyone, they are starting to catch up with the reporting. This same style of “reporting” from western media is currently happening in Syria with all of the gimmicks.
From my standpoint, Syria is stronger than what it was in 2012. Also, they have strong allies such Russia and Iran so I am confident that we will see reality when the dust settles in the same fashion to what happened with Ukraine.

I am hopeful as the Syrian army hasn’t yet lost in real fighting but I think the situation is close to its worst. Syria in 2012 did not lose major cities. They merely retreated from the countryside/desert.
While there were foreign terrorists in the civil war, they did not have a safe haven to accumulate in for years. We don’t know how many jihadists from all across the world were accumulated in Idlib from all these years since 2019. There are significant convoys heading down the highway.
The resistance forces coming in from Iraq are having to deal with the Kurds and US, and lack a clear connection to Damascus. Russia’s bases near the sea have almost been cut off by the offensive.
It is very likely that the jihadists had planted forces all over Northern Syria. Then they attacked Aleppo, and when the Syrian Army counter-attacked (very successfully at first), the hidden jihadists were activated behind their lines and basically cut off all communications and supply.
The Syrian Army had to retreat behind Homs to save the situation. However, it should be noted that this retreat was performed mostly without a fight.
There’s also a good possibility that this entire operation came too soon. The urgency of Israel to sign a ceasefire with Lebanon point to this. It is very likely that Trump’s election made them act quickly and perhaps (hopefully) prematurely.
I’m pretty sure the ua stands for Universal Awareness, although the website is focused on Ukraine and is anti-Putin.
It also stands for Ukraine -> https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/#iso:code:3166:UA
If you check the SMS two letter code, it also uses UA for Ukraine
The website’s creators are Ukrainian which is why they put UA in it, then they made it into an acronym.
