    The west is fucked.

    If I read this right, China will still export the products, but not the tech required for others to make the products. If so, the west will have to grovel. This has long been a western tactic, used to prevent countries rich in natural resources from doing anything except extracting and having to buy finished products from the imperialists.

    If I’m wrong with that interpretation, and China won’t be exporting the products or the tech, the west will really have to grovel (but I don’t see how this is feasible yet; China is strong, but this would end it’s dominance even if it seriously disrupted the west in the short term). One consequence, if it is the latter, is that it could limit the possibility of planned obsolescence, which would be a net gain for humanity.
