doesn’t the fighting game community have a relatively high number of POCs (compared to other genres at least)? I wouldn’t be surprised if that meant there were a higher percentage of comrades too
Yeah, it definitely does. Throughout most of my life I’ve been mostly an FPS player and that genre is a sea of white (esports wise) for the most part. When I got into the fighting game community a couple of years ago I noticed how much more diverse it was not just on the whole but at high levels in tournaments. It’s also more diverse in the realm of sexuality and gender, there’s a lot more people from the LGBTQ+ community and there’s way more acceptance than in other communities.
The FGC is probably the single most diverse gaming community in the world; there’s an enormous black presence. It goes further than that though; it seems to be one of the most inclusive for women and trans people as well.
