I might be stating the obvious here, but note how there are no Chinese or Russian officials publishing their own proposals to balkanize the United States. If there were, the Western press and its mindless audience would surely be repeatedly reminding us of these proposals for months on end, and using them as evidence that the Chinese and Russians follow a ‘utopian ideology’ that aims for world domination.

Ya know, I went to see about the Russian officials, because I could’ve sworn some of those were bound to blabber some silliness - someone like Zhirik. So far it seems mostly giggles about Alaska, but there was this bit from Medvedev:

Well i can see where that came from, Texas separatism is a thing, i guess New Mexico will come with them, and when shit will hit the fan California will probably be the first rat to run off the ship.
