North Korea, even to those of us who live in China, is a land subject to mystery and speculation. North Korea is like the Thoreau of nations living in self-imposed isolation in the woods and nobody knows what this solitary creature will do next. It is human nature to be curious about the unknown. It is precisely that mystery that gives our imaginations freedom to wander and embellish on the unknown and unknowable. Movies such as Team America: World Police and The Interview have poked fun at this East-Asian hermit. In The Interview, you can see Kim Jeong-eun drive a tank with Katy Perry’s Fireworks in the background, which is definitely a “What the F***” moment.
I don’t know if it’s for “revenge” or what, but North Korea has hit back with a video of its own. Instead of light-hearted fun, North Korea has responded with a documentary depicting the lives over “everyday Americans”. In the video “How Americans Live Today” life in the USA is depicted as a winter wasteland as people struggle with poverty, cold temperatures and loneliness.
Let’s check it out:
People live in the tents
Drinking Snow Coffee and Eating Birds
Americans buy guns to kill each other
Phones no longer work
Americans received aid from North Korea
Not sure if this was posted on Lemmygrad at some point.
Most of the lines are absolute comedy gold.
The best line by far
“In other parts of America, often disguised as foreign countries in Europe, people live the same terrible life.”
More accurate that what Radio Free Asia says about the DPRK.
