It has little to do with the state of infrastructure nationwide, but a major bridge in Baltimore collapsed and libs wanna talk about how great transport under the Biden admin is? Or, you know, the train derailments, the planes falling off the sky, etc.

The bridge hit is relevant, more to the system than Biden, but in context the import of the bridge and the commercial value of everything being shipped around the world, maybe even the criticality of some of is… Is it really too expensive to implement more to prevent ships smashing into it and closing the harbor for weeks? Apparently not, from the economy which routinely kneecaps innovation to protect monopoly.

Not to mention the bridge itself was in a pretty dire state. Not super relevant because even if it was brand new it would’ve been totaled regardless, but it is worth mentioning.

The Maryland government decided to allow huge ships like the one that hit the bridge despite expert advice saying the thing that happened would happen. Economic incentives are the reason this happened (not to mention the ship itself was probably poorly maintained, so there’s plenty of blame to go around).

Your two party system is broken

We know this, but that doesn’t prevent voting blue from being the best route to changing it

What if I told you voting blue was not actually changing anything?

Biden had four years to codify abortion, book bans aren’t done at the national level, why isn’t anyone wearing masks anymore under Biden?

Infrastructure bill is good but clearly insufficient, Biden capitulated as he has always done.

Affordable? Why isn’t Insulin, a life or death drug for some people, free? Where is the free healthcare?

    Rescheduling isn’t decriminalization or legalization.

Biden and Trump have things in common, a. support for genocide b. hating immigrants.

Cutting out leftist instances from federation will leave the anti-leftists to be drawn to it.

At least on Reddit, the community was whole regardless.

The flip side is that defederating from Lemmy.world leaves instances far nicer to interact with, fewer zionists and fascists and more leftists, but it also results in a growing anti-leftist echo chamber.

BIGGEST CLIMATE BILL IN HISTORY is what climate scientists say is not nearly enough, globally we should be spending trillions just on trying to fix this but basically nothing is being done

It’s actually quite crazy to see the amount of change Biden could get done even with out control of the legislative branch. Adding to that, the Republicans are in disarray too yet things still got done. I’m surprised OP didn’t include the largest climate legislation in world history. I want to see another country or region beat us, as this would be welcome competition.

      agony-limitless

largest climate change legislation in human history

      doubt

I guess that would make sense if you didn’t know anything about any other country’s climate legislation, which is presumably the case here.

The high-speed rail (HSR) network in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) is the world’s longest and most extensively used – with a total length of 45,000 kilometres (28,000 mi) by the end of 2023

      How about this?

What the hell do they mean by “largest climate legislation in world history?”

I propose to the congress of ME that we make the entire world use renewable energy by 2069. 100% yes vote, the motion passes. There. I just passed the biggest bit of climate legislation in world history. Sure, literally nothing will happen due to this, but I passes the legislation. Which is apparently enough for libs. Completely empty promises with no goal on how to achieve them.

largest climate legislation in world history

taking this at face value for a second - real shit? you mean to tell me that more climate legislation is being passed today than was being passed by the Roman Senate? The court of the Kangxi emperor was not passing climate legislation offering tax incentives to businesses in impoverished communities that can reduce their carbon footprint by 14% over 5 years?

Mongol and colonial euro empires killed so many people it had measurable effect on climate. I guess we know whose tradition US climate legislation do really uphold.

Why do so many people like this guy? He’s not charismatic, he hasn’t done much good and has done a lot of bad, and yet so many people have become blue MAGAs (at least online). It’s not even a point of lesser evil for them, they like him!

It is lesser evilism. They convince themselves Biden is good because their hatred of Trump and lack of theory leads them to reflexively take the side of the Democrats, and then gaslight themselves.
