At the start of the war the narrative was that Ukraine could win, and that was worth all the sacrifice, but now even the west admits that Ukraine is going to lose. So, Borrell is openly admitting here that the west is destroying Ukraine for their own interests as opposed to helping people of Ukraine.

that’s my impression to be honest, the fact that he’s a top diplomat in EU says volumes about the state of politics in the west

Yes. He does have regular attacks of honesty where he’s going mask off on things that were unthinkable to say loud from office such as his even a few years ago.

He seems to flip flop every few weeks. It’s really weird. I’m thinking now that he’s just an imbecile.

So…do it? How are you gonna openly say you know how to end the conflict but refuse to do it? Oh right, Russia Bad™, that’s all they have, literally one line

At least now they’re being honest that it’s not about helping Ukraine. It’s all about sacrificing the people of Ukraine to use it as a battering ram against Russia.

I don’t get it, as when the war started it was one of those “over by Christmas” things.

Not really. Russia never made any statements to that regard. Only the western press claimed that this was Russias intent.

It seems that plan A was a rapid advance towards Kiev to force negotiations. Which worked until the west made clear that Kiev was not the one to make peace.

So Plan B went on: Increase forces and grind Ukrainian forced down from defensive positions.

No, I meant I thought Russia would lose by Christmas. Might be remembering it wrong though.
