Unfortunately it’s probably going to take a while before they can catch up. The lithography equipment used to make 5nm chips took decades of research in varying different fields in varying different countries to make a breakthrough.
I don’t doubt they can eventually crack it faster than its original conception, but it’s still going to take a good chunk of time.

The “decision” made was to follow the orders of the USA. This is quite the framing.
Maybe now I can buy a home in my hometown instead of ASML bidding 70k over the asking price.
