    I’m gonna have to call out this sentence from the article:

    they’re blurry, anonymous landscapes that possess a positively Soviet anomie.

    depressing pictures that show U.S. cities are actually the USSR, a country that stopped existing over 30 years ago lmao. Can’t make this up. I can also assure the author that people in the USSR were happier than their American counterparts, not that these pictures show any…

      I was going to point that out too. If the ideological foil to the soviets are soviet, then everything is soviet, and that word has no meaning left.
