Reminds me of a documentary I tried to watch about the ancient Silk Road. At least twice per episode they would go out of their own way to make sure you knew that the USSR was evil. Like “oh by the way now these people are ruined because of the Soviet Union”. And of course the host was the most insufferably smug looking Brit I’ve ever seen.

Reminds me when I was watching TV that one time (for context; we have a channel that sometimes broadcasts old DDR films which I like to watch) and literally right before the film started they showed a little 30 second teaser for a “documentary” about a family that apparently wanted to escape from the DDR to the west. But the ebil border guards caught them and now those evil gommunists have taken them and their child into custody and shit like that.
