Reactionary af. Funded in part and at different times by the German state, Bill Gates, a Facebook co-founder, and a “spiritual” NGO.

Yeah, you can learn quite a bit of the science itself on the videos but the social takes and political suggestion are naïve at best.

They are German public broadcast television. Do you trust German public broadcast television from the government?

If you ask Germans this the answer you’ll get a lot of the time is “German public broadcasters are completely independent because their funding doesn’t come from the state, it comes from a separate fee everyone pays.”

Said fee is compulsory, de facto if not de jure a tax, and the whole construct is defined by law. If you’ve watched Tagesschau even once you’ll see it’s just what the government wants you to think.

But call it out as such and [see above] or “Germany is a free country with independent media, unlike the evil DDR where only state propaganda was allowed.”

I don’t know what the “pp” parameter is for in YouTube links, but to be safe you probably shouldn’t include it, as it may trace back to you. Fortunately your Lemmy client munged the ampersand in the URL, which may confound YouTube.

    Good video on Kurzegesagt propaganda.

My take is their purely scientific stuff is ok but anything societal they will throw in some propaganda. Even shit like global warming they try to spin as if everything will be ok in the end and there’s not a lot to worry about.

they make cool pop since videos and there is nothing wrong with those, but they are liberals and when they talk politics they talk within the scope of liberalism and they uphold liberal ideas. This fine i guess the problem is that they take the same aesthetic approach to politics as they they do to since (basically they are teaching u something that they have studied and know) but dont take the same approach when it comes to practical things and actually doing research. So on their since videos they will do a bunch of research and cite several papers and well research books and they will (i think deservingly so) present it as a sort of lecture as them imparting knowledge, but when it comes to politics they will copy paste from a propaganda book by bill fucking gates and supplement that with whatever feels right to their liberal brainsrot and also present it as a lecture.
