Let’s hope open hardware advances quickly now. This quantum bottleneck should take care of things.
It would be lovely to have computer electronic equipment easily distributed - at least they wouldn’t cut off supply this way.
They have been on this for years. It’s smart.

Brilliant.
Turkey also had it’s own Linux Distro Pardus, until a pro-US mafia destoyed it.
What makes you think it was destroyed? It appears that packages were updated in both their stable (Debian bullseye-based) and oldstable (buster-based) releases just yesterday.
It’s basically a Debian derivative now. It used to be so much more.
oh, interesting, i see they actually had their own package manager from 2005 to 2013!
Yes, it had it’s own init system as well, also written in Python. It was a great scientific experiment. I’m sad Pardus died. The community tried to keep it going as Pisi Linux, but it’s hard without government support.
this is huge.
i figure this will accelerate maintenance and development of the linux kernel and related software.
other countries would be forced to pay attention and likely adopt linux to benefit from a growing community of support.Alibaba were fined for releasing a security fix instead of telling the gov first. I think if anything the commits coming from there should be dropped
I’m looking forward to see what happens now with translations. Currently everything is available in English. The rest of languages are always secondary. I want to see what happens when Chinese only software and environments start to show up.
I’m already noticing chinese open software cropping up in my searches, software which only crudely supports english if at all.
What i want to see is this start to effect the demographic and the ideology of the foss movement.

I agree open source must be a better choice. However, I guess the Chinese gov’t will prioritize Chinese business and acquire Kingsoft instead of using existing open-source office suites.

Maybe they don’t want foreigners to get the code.
Xi is with us!

@OptimusPrime Did we will see a XiLinux, or they will just use Deepin… 😆
