In highschool I was reading on Wikipedia about red pines or something and there was section saying that China was planting too many of them and making them more endangered because they were taking too many pinecones to plant too many trees??? My response to this was “wow China always tries to fix things and screws things up in a whacky way,” instead of critically thinking about that for five seconds.
lmao oh my god I had so many of those moments. Literally just thinking through it would have radicalized me way earlier.
A good few years ago I strongly believed that the west owed it to the world to bring them peace and freedom etc. Makes me physically cringe now.
Never had anyone to tell me “we” are the reason there isn’t peace and freedom.
I was really into pacifism for a bit in my mid teens. Thankfully it not only ended, but also was short-lived.

Nothing inherently. I was a fencesitter centrist sort of pacifist where I would think war is bad and both sides participating in war are bad. I was not well informed as a child and held this view about some pretty clear-cut conflicts without naming names.
I was shocked when Beyonce made an alleged tribute to the Black Panther Party. Then I looked up what the BPP actually was and I am now one.
I thought that if one day i was able to become a very rich billionaire, i could use my money to end all problems in my country :(
