    I’ve had the best luck with the argument that the US has a lot of socialist policies already – they just mostly benefit corporations.

      That’s a good angle to take because it taps into people’s sense of fairness. I find in general, it’s easier to get people to understand that capitalism is a system that’s designed to screw them than to try and get them to understand what socialism is. If you can get them to the point where they understand that capitalism works as intended, then it becomes much easier to start arguing that putting workers in charge is the only way out.
